Update – Fatal Collision Closes Road

 

(LEAMINGTON, ON) – On Friday, the 18th of March, 2022, at approximately 6:44 a.m., Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Leamington Detachment, and Essex-Windsor EMS responded to a head on collision, involving three vehicles, on Essex County Road 34 between County Road 37 and Mersea Road 21.

The Leamington OPP have completed this investigation and criminal charges were laid.

Jacob Fehr, age 22, of Chatham-Kent, was charged with Impaired Driving cause death x 2, and Drive Disqualified x 2. The accused was remanded into custody until a scheduled bail hearing on March 22, 2022.

The driver of one motor vehicle involved, Jacqueline Steeman, age 30, was pronounced deceased at scene. The passenger of the same vehicle, Carrie Steeman, age 50 was pronounced deceased at scene. The driver of the third vehicle, and lone occupant, was uninjured.
