Privatization Proposal for the Ambassador Bridge

Dear Editor:

The current plan to have car traffic using the Ambassador Bridge, with all truck traffic moving to the new Gordie Howe Bridge, may not be legal under US law. It would appear that both spans will be competing for the profitable tolls. Truck traffic in West Windsor is here to stay, as long as the GOC is competing against American owned interests.

One solution is for the Government of Canada to purchase the Ambassador – Corridor, from the current owners, prior to completion of the Gordie Howe project.
