On Friday, March 25, 2022, the Town of Kingsville raised the Ukrainian flag at Town Hall as a demonstration of solidarity with Ukraine’s besieged citizens under Russian attack. The motion to raise the flag was made and approved at the March 14, 2022 Council meeting with unanimous support.
“This is an important moment in history and we want to show the Ukrainian people currently defending their country, and members of our community of Ukrainian descent, that Kingsville stands with them,” said Mayor Nelson Santos.

“We live in 2022, and who would have thought we’d have to fight for democracy and stand up for peaceful nations that want to continue to enjoy their culture, their language, their families, and their community? Here we are fighting Putin’s war and recognizing the injustices and certainly the crimes against humanity that we’re experiencing today.”
The flag-raising happened at 11:00 am.
A “Kingsville Community for Ukraine” pasta dinner and fundraiser is also planned at the Town’s Grovedale Arts & Culture Centre on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, from 4:30 pm – 6:30 pm. Dinner is by donation (eat in, or take out) and includes a bake sale, art auction and ribbon sales.
All proceeds will be donated through the Red Cross to the Ukraine Humanitarian Crisis Appeal.
If you have questions about this fundraiser or want to volunteer, contact event organizer, Councillor Laura Lucier at 519-300-1234 or follow @kingsvillecommunityforukraine on Facebook.
