Fatal Collision Closes Road

(LEAMINGTON, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently at the scene of a three vehicle collision on Essex County Road 34 between Leamington and Wheatley.

At approximately 6:44 a.m., an eastbound pickup truck crossed the centre line and sideswiped a utility van and then struck a westbound sedan head on.

The two occupants of the sedan were pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver and sole occupant of the pick-up truck, was taken to a local hospital by Windsor Essex Emergency Medical Service (EMS), with serious injuries. The driver and sole occupant of the utility van was uninjured.

The OPP’s Technical Traffic Collision investigators are currently on scene.

Essex County Road 34 between Essex County Road 37 and Essex County Road 21 is currently closed in both directions. The motoring public is asked to avoid the area.
