Antonio “Tony” Tavares
Antonio “Tony” Tavares; 82 years of age, passed away February 15, 2022 at Leamington Hospice surrounded by his wife and children. Antonio is survived by his loving wife Maria of 55 years; his children, Elizabeth McGregor (Brian), Delia Coppola (Paul), David Tavares and Pamela Gray (Nathan).
Loving Avô to Kelsey (James), Mitchell, Shayla, Garret, Amarisa and Ellie and also leaving behind his dog companion Max.
Antonio is survived by his sister Deolinda Rego and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his three brothers, John, Humberto and Louis and sister Maria.
Antonio was born in St. Miguel, Azores, Portugal and came to Canada in 1965. He worked diligently for over 20 years at Omstead’s before retiring. He was a devoted husband, father, Avô, brother and friend to many. Antonio had a great passion for music, animals, gardening and recently fishing.
Visitation will take place at Kendrick Funeral Home, Kingsville, on Thursday, February 17, from 4 to 8 p.m.
The Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, February 18, at St. John de Brebeuf Catholic Church, Kingsville, starting at 9:30 a.m. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
The family would appreciate memorial donations to Erie Shores Hospice, 197 Talbot St West, Suite 210, Leamington ON N8H 1N8.
