BIA Feature Business: GPAR, Golf Performance and Rehab Canada

Join the Kingsville BIA in welcoming one of our newest members:  GPAR, Golf Performance and Rehab Canada.

GPAR is located at Kingsville Golf & Country Club, and is one of the first Golf and Performance Rehab centers to office services inside of a Golf and Country Club.

They officially opened October 15th, 2021 and are accepting new patients!

GPAR is a Golf Performance and Rehabilitation Centre. They have a wide variety of professions at the clinic, including chiropractic, physiotherapy, massage therapy, acupuncture/dry needling, and Golf Performance and Rehabilitation.

They have services targeted specifically towards golfers but they also have standard rehab services, and treat any kind of athletic or non-athletic pain or injury.

Their philosophy is “movement is medicine,” and they  promote an overall healthy lifestyle. They are incredibly passionate about helping others feel and function at their best. They also love golf, so combining their knowledge of medicine with the biomechanically complex game of golf is what they do best!

They said the decision to open their business in Kingsville was an easy one.

“Kingsville is the perfect fit for GPAR. Not only is it a high-quality course with welcoming staff, but it also has a lot of potential for growth in the future. We did initially investigate other opportunities but with the help of Manager Doug Quick, Kingsville quickly became our top choice.“ – Dr. Mario

The clinic offers a combination of attributes that you won’t find in many other places. First off is the partnership between their clinic and the Kingsville Golf & Country Club. By offering their services inside of the club itself, they are in a prime location to provide their specialty services to golfers before or after they hit the course.

They also utilize the latest technology, such as the K-Vest motion sensors, which can give them real-time information about your swing mechanics and movement errors. This technology provides them with an objective measure that they can re-test after working on a personalized treatment program and truly see the improvements that have been made.

Dr. Andrew Mercer and Dr. Mario Micovsky made the decision to become Chiropractors when they were both attending the University of Windsor Human Kinetics program.

At the same time they worked for two local Chiropractors in the Windsor/Essex area, Doctors Steve and Paula Radovich, where they discovered a passion for, not only the profession, but business as well.

While working together they found that their strengths and weaknesses complemented each other, and that their working chemistry was very strong and efficient.

Although they parted ways and went to separate Chiropractic Colleges (Dr. Mario to Logan College of Chiropractic in St. Louis, Missouri and Dr. Andrew to Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto, Ontario) they maintained close contact and continued to build their business dream. They achieved their Doctorate of Chiropractic degrees and were ready to take their business plan seriously.

Fast forward to 2021 and, despite dealing with the global pandemic, they were able to come up with a solid plan with Kingsville Golf & Country Club and were up and running by October of that year.

ABOUT GPAR

With their Golf Performance and Rehabilitation Assessment, they utilize a combination of Golf Specific Movement Screens and 6-D motion capture technology to assess movement to the exact degree through multiple body segments as you swing a golf club.

This enables them to identify areas of strength and weakness of your swing. They have extensive training through the Titleist Performance Institute and K-Motion which allows them to analyze the results and diagnose any biomechanical inefficiencies (e.g., limited shoulder range of motion or poor core strength) that may be affecting your golf swing.

They then utilize a combination of exercise prescription, education, and manual therapy to address these areas to promote better movement and a more efficient swing.

They believe that golfers of all ages benefit from adding strength and mobility to their daily lives. They utilize this same philosophy with our standard chiropractic, physiotherapy and massage therapy services as well.

“We look forward to helping the people of Kingsville and surrounding communities to feel better and move better!” – Dr. Mario Micovsky
