Polly, 9 years old Shepherd Mix

Hi, My name is Polly. I don’t mean to sound sad, it’s just that, I’ve been looking for my home for a while now without much luck. I don’t know if it’s because I’m old and nobody wants an old dog, or because I need a specific home.

But my heart really hurts seeing all these other dogs going home while I watch through my kennel door knowing it isn’t me. I’ve been here a month now, and really really wish someone would give me a good home for Christmas.

I am a fun and loving dog suitable for an only pet household. I enjoy a few walks each day and play time if someone is home. I can be a bit strong and eager on leash (I’m on a mission to explore and smell all the good stuff!), so I will need someone who is willing to work on some training with me.

I can play independently licking and chewing on my toys but I really enjoy playing fetch! Running after balls, kongs or other toys is fun and I enjoy play with both adults and older children.

I know the basic commands of a household like sit and am learning to stay and lay down for longer periods of time. With a little practice I have come a long way already and I can continue to improve. Wouldn’t you enjoy coming home to a sweet and loving dog with me wagging my tail with how happy I am for you to be home?
