On-Street Parking Prohibited November 15 to April 15

The Town of Kingsville’s Winter Control policies are in effect from November 15 to April 15 each year, during which time there is no on-street parking permitted between midnight and 6:00 am during winter snow events.

The Town also asks residents to remove any portable items, such as basketball nets, from roadways and sidewalks to help our plows remove snow safely and effectively and prevent potential damage to their property.

Vehicles parked on the street may be ticketed for $75.00 or towed, and portable items may be removed and stored. The owner is responsible for any towing or storage charges.

Our snowplows must follow an essential order to snow removal for safety reasons and Provincial service delivery standards. Roads are classified using traffic counts and speed limits. To summarize, streets and sidewalks will be attended to in the following order:

  1. High Priority Roads: Class 3 roads include main roads and arterial roads.
  2. Rural Roads: Class 4 roads are high speed and subject to drifting snow.
  3. Local Roads: Class 5 roads found in subdivisions and urban areas.
  4. Sidewalks: Accumulations of 8cm or more must be attended to within 48 hours after the event.

The Town thanks you for your patience and cooperation during the winter months. It can be challenging to plow municipal routes, sidewalks and parking lots. Adherence to our winter control policies helps us ensure our roads are safe for public travel.

    Good afternoon,

Much to my surprise I awoke this morning to a “Certificate of Parking Infraction” on my windshield (ticket #213, officer #12624). I do understand and value the town’s Winter Control policies and I took it, as well as other factors into consideration prior to parking.

The small amount of snowfall (<8cm) we received had ceased shortly after noon, almost 12hours prior to me parking. Furthermore, the section of street had already been fully cleared of all snow and all (5) parking spots on the east side of Division were clearly visible and accessible.

This morning at ~5am I prepared to bring my wife in to the Leamington hospital for a scheduled surgery and the only thing that changed was that I had received this Parking Infraction, no further plowing or snow removal was required or had taken place in the area.

This $75 fee is not warranted as the parking spots had already been cleared of snow, and the snow that we did receive is less than the amount needed to be considered a "winter snow event". I am asking that you please have this ticket rescinded.
