Kingsville Introduces Hybrid Council Meetings

The Town of Kingsville is pleased to announce that the first phase of returning to in-person Council meetings begins on November 8, 2021. Council members and Senior Administration will attend in person, with additional staff, presenters, and delegates continuing to participate via Zoom. Members of the public can continue to watch the meeting by accessing the live stream at www.kingsville.ca/meetings. Members of the public wishing to speak to Council will do so via electronic participation and can register with the Clerk’s office by calling the Town at 519-733-2305.

“We’ve made safety enhancements in Council Chambers to ensure the appropriate spacing, and we’ve installed plexiglass barriers between members of Council in their sitting area,” said Kingsville’s Chief Administrative Officer, John Norton. “COVID-19 remains a significant health risk in our community and requires us to take precautions. This hybrid model is the first step toward our ultimate goal of completely returning to in-person meetings.”

The Town of Kingsville is fully committed to transparency and open public meetings. The Town has implemented new technology in Council Chambers to capture each speaker on camera individually, improving the viewing experience for those watching from home.

“We were certainly fortunate to have the live stream in place prior to the pandemic, and our quick pivot to electronic meetings during those early days allowed us to continue municipal business without interruption,” said Mayor Nelson Santos. ” We’re looking forward to getting back into Council Chambers for our first face-to-face on Monday, and moving another step closer to normalcy.”

Hybrid meetings will begin Monday, November 8, 2021, at 6:00 pm. Members of the public can access the live stream from the comfort of their homes by visiting www.kingsville.ca/meetings  and clicking the ‘video’ link beside the meeting date.
