Weather and Material Shortages Delay Splash Pad Construction

Construction on the new splash pad at Lakeside Park has been delayed due to excessive seasonal precipitation, and material and fixture shortages caused by the pandemic. Construction on the new washroom facility continues with masonry and roofing work. The Town expects splash pad components to begin the week of September 6, 2021.

“We were hoping to have it operational during the tail end of this season,” said Manager of Facilities and Property, Dan Wolicki. “But given the challenges the construction team faced, it looks like we will formally introduce the new splash pad in 2022, during the May long weekend.”

While the Splash Pad itself will have to wait for warmer weather to operate, the project will be substantially complete by the end of September. At that point, the washroom facility will be available for public use. Once finished, the splash pad will boast over 30 different water features.

  1. Too bad that the Splash Pad was not done when we had very hot weather. But it will be nice to have one for next summer.
