Teaching Our Children About Reconciliation, Kindness and Inclusion

The Government of Canada recently passed legislation to make tomorrow, September 30, a federal statutory holiday. The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation provides an opportunity to recognize and commemorate the tragic history and ongoing legacy of residential schools. Tomorrow and every day it is important to honour survivors, their families, and communities.

How can we teach our kids about reconciliation, kindness, and inclusion? The First Nations Child & Family Caring Society is based in Ottawa and offers educational resources. On their website, you can read the youth-friendly, “Spirit Bear’s Guide to the Truth and Reconciliation: Commission of Canada Calls to Action.”
