It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved husband and papa, John “Jack” Samuel Bachtold, on July 3, 2021, at Erie Shores Healthcare at the age of 77 years. Beloved husband of 58 years to Beverly Bachtold (nee Dodge).

Loving father of Diane (Mark) Watts and Dave (Ellen) Bachtold. Adored Papa of Alysa (Doug), Adam (Maggie), Amanda (Garrett), Alexandra, late Sydney, Sam and Charlie; great papa of Zachary, Hunter and Edward. Brother of Bill (Becky) and Debbie. Brother-in-law of Jerome Rondelez.

He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Margaret Bachtold (nee Waite) and his sisters Eleanor and Madelline.

John had retired from Chrysler Canada after 45 years of service, working in the maintenance department. He loved spending time with his family on the farm where he became known as “Papa” to everyone and was a “Jack of all trades.” He also loved spending time up North with his many buddies where he was a life member of the Deep Bay Hunt Club.

Visitation will take place at Kendrick Funeral Home, Kingsville on Monday, July 5, 2021, from 3 to 7 p.m. You must RSVP to attend the visitation and funeral service as numbers are limited and masks are mandatory. A celebration of John’s life will be held Tuesday July 6, 2021, at 11 a.m. with burial following at Cottam Cemetery.
