Beginning Wednesday June 16th, 2021, Fort Malden National Historic Site is pleased to welcome visitors for its 2021 season.
We know that more than ever, people are looking to explore Ontario, get outdoors, and connect with history close to home. Fort Malden National Historic Site provides an opportunity for all of this and more!
Parks Canada continues to follow the advice and guidance of public health experts in offering visitor access and services this year. Our team has been working hard to ensure that a safe, clean, healthy and enjoyable experience is available to visitors. In fact, Fort Malden National Historic Site has received a #SafeTravels stamp in recognition of the Parks Canada health and safety protocols followed on site.
Hours and programming
Starting June 16th, the fort and waterfront pathway are open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday to Sunday for June, July, and August.
In meeting Ontario provincial measures for Step 1, we’ve moved all programming to our outdoor spaces where visitors can learn about history from costumed interpreters, sit in on a musket demonstration, watch a blacksmith in action, picnic along the Detroit river, or watch cooking demonstrations in the period cookhouse.
The visitor centre and gift shop are open, with limited capacity, offering Parks Canada merchandise and unique gifts for visitors, friends, and loved ones.
Admission and annual passes
Daily admission for adults is $3.90, Seniors is $3.40, and youth 17 and under are free!
With Fort Malden’s expanse of outdoor space, interesting demonstrations, historic interpretation, and #SafeTravels protocols – all in a beautiful heritage setting – it’s a wonderful place to visit again and again. Fort Malden season passes are $10.02 for adults and $8.74 for seniors. Kids are free every visit!
Notice anything new?
Along with our move to outdoor programming, you may also notice the rehabilitation work completed last year on the 1820 Brick Barrack and Museum. This refresh included window and door repairs, repointing, masonry cleaning, stone repairs, new cedar shingles, and a fresh coat of paint. We are happy to show off the outside of these important heritage buildings until we can welcome visitors inside, based on provincial regulations.
