Our Thanks to the Rotary Club for Its Annual Community Cleanup

President Dave Jones and team

If you were out and about last Saturday May 29th, you may have noticed a number of volunteers filling their blue bags around town. What were they up to, you ask?

Well, this event was originally planned for last year — and was delayed multiple times due to COVID. The Rotary Club of Kingsville Southshore finally was able to get out and move forward with their Annual Greenway/Community cleanup!

Cyndy Silvius

Fourteen teams of five gathered, following COVID guidelines, and spread out along the greenway, beaches and along many streets. Among the coffee cups, cigarette butts and other litter, hidden treasures were found, and in the end, the photos tell the story.

The volunteers were from Ortaliza Urban Farms, Libro Credit Union, Lee and Maria’s, Pelee Island Winery, Dr. Mark Olivito & Associates, the Town of Kingsville, Erie Shores Rehabilitation, The Rotary Club of Kingsville Southshore, N.J. Peralta Engineering and our youth team, sponsored by Ernie’s TV & Appliance.

Every one of these volunteers exemplifies Rotary’s motto: “Service Above Self.”

Cleaning up our greenway, parks, beaches and streets reflects the strength of fellowship within our Kingsville community. We celebrate this sense of community while also teaching our children and youth the power and purpose of giving.

Thank you to everyone who stepped up and helped clean up!

What is Rotary?

Locally, we are members of our community that look for ways to improve our town, and have a little fun while doing it. Globally, we are a network of over 1.2 million neighbours, friends, leaders and problem solvers.
