Spotlight On Business: Welcome Dairy Queen!

Kingsville Dairy Queen

This week, The Kingsville Times had the pleasure of speaking with Kurt and Kate, the owners of the new Dairy Queen in Kingsville. Given this is their third Dairy Queen in Ontario, a smooth grand opening and well-run restaurant is sure to be the order of the day.

As most of our readers already know, the new Dairy Queen is located at the corner of Division Road North and Road 2 East. Opening day is May 8 and, as Kate points out below, drive-through traffic will be asked to enter off Division Road North while in-store traffic can enter off Road 2 East.

Kingsville Times:
How did you come to select Kingsville as the best town for your latest Dairy Queen franchise?

Kurt and Kate:
We chose Kingsville because we love the community feel, the walkability, the proximity to the lake, and the fact that Kingsville is a destination town. We are really excited to be part of the new growth of Kingsville down Division Road.

KT:
We know your opening day is set for May 8. What can visitors to the new Kingsville Dairy Queen expect on opening day?

K&K:
We are so excited for our Grand Opening and the community feedback and support has been nothing short of warm and amazing. We receive emails and messages from people simply wanting to welcome us to Kingsville.

KT:
What are your operating hours? How will you manage with the lockdown?

K&K:
Operating hours will be 10 am-10 pm Monday through Saturday, including our Grand Opening Day. Sunday we are open from 11 am-10 pm.

Fans can order all their traditional favourites from Blizzards to Orange Julius, our burgers, and cakes through our drive-through or by coming into the store for carry-out. We will have our cake display full of our classic chocolate and vanilla ice cream cakes, and our Oreo, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup, Chocolate  Xtreme, and Strawberry Cheesecake Blizzard cakes.

Delivery will be available through Skip The Dishes very soon. Our DQ app is also available in the App Store, and it’s a great way to receive coupons right to your device!

Our dining room is closed for dining and we ask everyone who comes inside to abide by posted social distancing prompts as well as wear a mask.

KT:
Some readers might associate Dairy Queen with great ice cream and summer treats. Do you have more on your menu?

K&K:
In addition to all our treats, we love making cakes at DQ! We have an in-store cake display full of ready-to-go cakes, or fans can call us (519-712-9097) and we will decorate a cake for their special occasion. Special order cakes can also be ordered online at DQCakes.com once the link to our new Kingsville location is live on May 8.

We are taking pre-orders now. Our menu is available at DairyQueen.com and will be posted to our Facebook page by searching Kingsville Dairy Queen.

We also have a full menu of hot food from burgers and fries to pretzel sticks. We are well known for our chicken strips! We also offer the full Orange Julius menu. And we are now offering new Dairy Free, Gluten Free, Vegan Dilly Bars by the box.

KT:
In addition to the great food you will be offering our community, we expect that you will be bringing some jobs to the area, as well. Have you completed your staffing or will local residents see jobs openings coming soon?

K&K:
We have completed our hiring for our Grand Opening, however, we are always accepting and reviewing resumes. Resumes can be submitted to DQKingsville@gmail.com or dropped off at our store.

KT:
Do you have any special messages for the residents of Kingsville about your business or what they can expect?

K&K:
We would just like to give a huge thank you to the residents who have so warmly welcomed DQ to Kingsville, to the Town of Kingsville for working with us, and to the many local contractors who we worked with to make this vision come to life.

Dairy Queen is a large global brand, but we want fans to know that this is a family-owned restaurant and we hope that they feel like this is their community Dairy Queen.

Also, on opening weekend, there will be signs directing drive-through traffic to enter off Division, and in-store traffic to enter off Rd. 2. This will help a lot with traffic flow.
