WINDSOR-ESSEX, ON – While most Windsorites are aware of the struggles some families face right now to put food on the table, pets can be easily overlooked.
And the pet food pantry shelves at the Windsor/Essex County Humane Society are almost bare.
“Pets are part of our families and bring so much to our lives; this has never been more evident than throughout this pandemic. When pets already have a home where they are loved, the Humane Society’s pet food bank can help to keep families and pets together.” – Melanie Coulter, Executive Director, WECHS
This weekend select Pet Valu stores in Windsor are helping to fill the Humane Society’s food bank shelves – all done by telephone. The stores are also offering customers a discount when they purchase Performatrin brand food to donate.
The WECHS would like to thank Lauren Edwards of Pet Valu for stepping up and supporting this food bank drive.
‘I heard from Melanie that the food bank was running low and wanted to help. Anyone who purchases wet or dry Performatrin dog or cat food this weekend for the food bank will receive a 10% discount and my 3 stores will be donating $500 worth of food as well.’ – Lauren Edwards, Franchise Owner
People can call our partners at Pet Valu, and purchase dog or cat food that will help people and pets in their time of need. All purchased food will be used in the Humane Society’s public pet food bank. Lauren and her team are great supporters of the work we do here at the Society, we are grateful for her cooperation as we innovate to gather much need resources for our community’s animals.
If you would like to contribute food, please call one of 3 Pet Valu locations in Windsor this weekend:
