Ken Hunter
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ken on May 8, 2021 at Erie Shores Healthcare at the age of 77 years. He was born in Harrow, ON to the late Charles & Florence Hunter (nee Tilly). Father of Robert (Terri), Lisa (Mark), Jennifer (Michael) Avelar and Aaron (Shelby).
Grandfather of Jordan, Joel, Kyle, Spencer, Nathan, Gannon, Channing, Beckham, Kellan; and great grandfather of Quinn. Brother of Alma, Jane, Allan, Marian, Pearl, Walter and Carol; predeceased by siblings Donald, Betty Jean, Agnes, Douglas, George, Barbara, Clarence, Gladys and Margaret.
Ken was the owner of Hunter Construction. Throughout his career, he built many of the barns throughout Essex County and buildings at the Canadian Transportation Museum and Heritage Village. Ken also carried on Hillhurst Maple Syrup Farm from his grandfather for many years.
You could often see Ken cruising around town in his classic 1958 Impala. Ken was a man of nature, wonderful storyteller, loved making maple syrup, going for walks through the bush and seeing wildlife in their natural habitat.
A private family service will take place with a celebration of Ken’s life being held at a later date when we can all gather together. Arrangements entrusted to Kendrick Funeral Home, Kingsville Celebration Centre.
If you wish, memorial donations would be appreciated to Essex & Community Historical Research Society, 18 Gordon Avenue, Essex, Ontario N8M 2M4 or the Canadian Transportation Museum & Heritage Village, 6155 Arner Townline, Kingsville, ON N9Y 2E5.
