Windsor/Essex – With the Province of Ontario’s State of Emergency in effect, Essex Region Conservation confirms the following adjustments to our programs and facilities:
· All essential services including our Flood Forecasting and Warning remain active. Staff are working remotely. The Essex County Civic Centre remains closed, and our offices also closed to walk-in visits until further notice. Inquiries can be made over the phone and by email.
· Our permitting, planning and regulatory responsibilities continue. Applications for permit can be made online at https://essexregionconservation.ca/planning-and-permits/.
· Outdoor conservation areas and greenway trails will continue to be open from dawn to dusk for exercise. No gathering is permitted. Proper physical distancing protocols of remaining at least 2 metres from any other visitor who is not part of your household must be observed. Facial coverings are strongly recommended, in accordance with Provincial guidelines. Conservation area usage is monitored to ensure these guidelines are being followed so that we can safely continue to offer these important natural areas for physical and mental health. Pets MUST be leashed. Please be sure to remove all litter and pet waste so these trails can be kept clean and safe for the enjoyment of all.
· Holiday Beach Conservation Area will re-open for those with seasonal camping contracts and for daily exercise on April 17, 2021. The washrooms will also be opened at this time.
· The museum, outbuildings and washrooms remain closed at the John R. Park Homestead. The grounds are open for exercise.
· Cottage rentals are suspended in accordance with Provincial orders.

The porta- johns along the Chrysler Greenway at Harrow and Arner parking lots should be put back in place . Medical experts have stated the very low risk of viral transmission from hard surfaces , therefore the plastic components of the porta-john are a low threat . Social distancing inside these units is most likely a non issue either .
I had purchased a birding pass for Hillman Marsh- was that not necessary? Please let me know- perhaps it can be honoured next year?
