Miklos Galata moved to Kingsville from Vancouver, British Columbia about 10 years ago. He has been busy for some time now taking pictures of the area, both in town and in nature. He shares many of those photos via social media and people love them. Some of his photos have made their way into his new book, “Healing Places of Kingsville and Leamington.”
The Kingsville Times interviewed Miklos recently about his book.
The Kingsville Times:
What do you like best about this area?
Miklos Galata:
What I like the most about Kingsville is that it’s a friendly and safe community. It’s a great place to raise a family and still relatively affordable compared to other parts of Ontario. I also like Nature’s healing places around town and that is what my book is all about.
KT:
When did you realize you wanted to become a writer?
MG:
I always wanted to become a writer ever since I was a little boy of 8 or 9 years old.
KT:
Have you published a book before?
MG:
Yes, I’ve published books before. Mostly poetry books in Hungarian language. One was titled “Hungarian poets of the millennium in North America.” That was back in the year 2000.
KT:
What was your inspiration for writing this book?
MG:
My inspiration was my healing journey and how Mother Nature helped me to get better during the last two years.
KT:
What is it about the Kingsville-Leamington area that has helped you to heal?
MG:
We are all truly blessed to live in such a beautiful part of our country and being able benefit from the amazing healing places that surround this area. I talk about this in more detail in my book. I also tell my readers about how to practice forest healing based on proven methods.
KT:
What was the most challenging aspect of writing this book?
MG:
For me the most challenging part was the proof-reading, editing and book formatting process. I found this part of publishing very frustrating.
Luckily, we already have an established author here in Kingsville: Lynn McLaughlin. Her professional guidance and advice were priceless, I owe her so much!
Writing a book was the easy part for me because my brain is always buzzing with new ideas. Right now, I’m working on two children books simultaneously.
KT:
What advice can you give others who have dreamt of writing a book?
MG:
If you hit a roadblock or run out of ideas don’t just give up, reach out! There are so many talented people out there willing to help you on the way to realize your dream.
KT:
What can we look forward to next from Miklos Galata?
MG:
As I said earlier, I’m working on two new children books. I’m done with the story part and typing. Now I’m waiting for proof-reading, editing, formatting, etc. Most importantly I’m also waiting for drawings from my illustrators.
My book “Healing Places of Kingsville and Leamington” was easy in that respect because I could use my nature photography. I want my books to look “picture perfect” for my young readers so choosing the right artist to do the illustrations is extremely important to me.
