On December 4, 2020 Mr. Tom Harmon, a member of the Kingsville Community Policing Committee (CPC) and Constable Silvano Bertoni of Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Kingsville Detachment attended Dr. Mark Olivito and Associates Dentistry office. With sincere thanks, they received a cheque for $2060 which is proceeds from the annual mouth guard injury prevention initiative which was started nine years ago.
Dr. Olivito explained the initiative began as a way to give back to the community and help protect youth. The local office works with suppliers to donate 100 percent of the proceeds of the sales. Kingsville CPC began receiving the proceeds eight years ago to assist the community in a larger scale.
The mission for this committee is, through a partnership with OPP, to improve the overall safety and wellbeing of the residents of Kingsville. This is done by partnering with police to provide public education and awareness programs at a variety of events throughout the year.
Some of the community events and programs supported by the committee are:
- Breakfast Program Assistance & Kingsville Community Food Bank
- Kingsville District High School Nutrition program
- Ruthven Apple & Migration Festival
- OPP Cop Camp & Bike Safety Clinics
The Kingsville CPC is made up of a diverse group of civilians that represent community members who resided within the town of Kingsville. These individuals come together with a common desire of creating a safe and vibrant community.
