Pat Kaspardlov (October 14, 1928 – November 17, 2020)

November 17, 2020, Patricia Jayne Kaspardlov (nee Allen/MacDougall) passed away peacefully in Kingsville, Ontario at the age of 92. Loving wife of the late Dr. Melvin Kaspardlov and mother to Dessa and Paul Kaspardlov, she was the biological daughter of George and Betty Allen born Oct. 14, 1928 in Jefferson City, Missouri. However, she was raised and considered the daughter of Angus (Mac) and Elizabeth (Viney) MacDougall of London, Ontario.

She graduated from Alma College (St. Thomas) and shortly after met the love of her life Melvin Kaspardlov, marrying in March of 1956. Together Pat and Mel started their family in Amherstburg before relocating to Kingsville in 1967 where they raised Dessa and Paul.

Pat grew up in London, Ontario but spent her summers at the family cottage in Grand Bend. She loved to share stories of her life “at the cottage.” She’d share stories of fishing, swimming and boating with her father.

Pat’s early childhood experiences helped define her. Her greatest virtue was the ability to put family first. For Pat this was not an obligation — it was who she was. She maintained strong family and friend relationships. Pat was always the first to offer support or help.

When her children were young, she chose to stay home with them, rather than working out of the house and she spent many sleepless nights packing up the truck and trailer to take Dessa to horse shows or Paul out of town for a motorcycle race. Without hesitation, Pat always made time to drive hundreds of miles out of town to help a friend in need. Pat was an exceptional wife, mother and friend.

As an athlete, Pat, competed in swimming, tennis, riding and golf. In her adult years, she was an accomplished curler winning multiple local and regional championships. Filling the role of a Skip, many aspired to play on her team.

Pat is predeceased by her husband Dr. Melvin Kaspardlov, brother Peter Allen (Pam) Arlington Va., sister Eleanor Misener, St. Catherines.

She is survived by her daughter Dessa Jayne Kaspardlov (William Asselin) and son Paul James Kaspardlov, 5 grandchildren: JoLayne Vanderbeek (Lawrence Reaume), Cori Vanderbeek Heer (Christopher Heer), Tanner Kaspardlov (Jenn Brunet), Austin Kaspardlov (Amber Martinho), Darien Kaspardlov and 7 great grandchildren. Taytum & Charleigh DeYong, Robynn & Zack Heer, Madison, Sydney and Riley Reaume.

Funeral arrangements and internment will be held at a later date.
Donations can be made to Erie Shores Healthcare — Diagnostic Radiology, 194 Talbot St W, Leamington, ON N8H 1N9.
