United Way kicks off 2020 fundraising campaign with special Facebook Watch Party

Windsor, ON – United Way/Centraide Windsor-Essex County’s largest annual event is going virtual this year. Windsor-Essex residents are invited to show their ‘local love’ by coming together online to kick off United Way’s 2020/2021 fundraising campaign. The special Facebook Watch Party will take place on Tuesday, October 6 at 12 p.m., where viewers will learn more about the issues impacting our region and how they can help.

While this year’s Kick-Off may be different from past years, the mission has never been stronger or more urgent. Our community’s most vulnerable residents have been pushed to their limits and beyond during the COVID-19 pandemic. From increased demand at food banks to finding new ways to deliver mental health counselling and online learning support, the need for vital community supports and services has never been greater. That all makes this year’s campaign Kick-Off especially important to ensure that no one gets left behind.

“We’ll respond in real-time to urgent needs on the ground and plan for future challenges,” says Lorraine Goddard, CEO of United Way/Centraide Windsor-Essex County. “We want to bring people together online to learn more about the issues impacting our community, and how all of us can get involved to help support our most vulnerable residents in the months and years to come.”

The live one-hour event will be hosted by AM 800 CKLW’s Mike and Lisa and is produced by Tango Creative Group. This year’s fundraising efforts are sponsored by UNIFOR Local 444, who will generously donate $5 to this year’s campaign for every Facebook view received*.
