The Town of Kingsville will have a new Chief Administrative Officer soon. John Norton will be stepping into the position of CAO as of Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2020, according to a news update from the Town.
Norton was previously the CAO at the Township of Georgian Bluffs. Earlier he spent nine years working for the Municipality of Chatham-Kent where he most recently was the General Manager of Community Development. He was responsible for economic development and long-term community planning. He was also involved with a community-led task force on the economic response to the COVID-19.
Prior to entering the public arena of service, John worked in private practice, focusing on municipal law. He holds a Law Degree from the University of Western Ontario. He has a Master of Arts in Human Resource Management from Trinity College. He received his Bachelor of Arts from Taylor University College/ University of Alberta.
“We’re excited to have John join our municipality as CAO,” said Kingsville Mayor Nelson Santos according to the Town’s news update. “He’s a proven leader with a wealth of experience who, alongside Council and staff, will help bring the vision, goals and objectives of our community to fruition.”
As our new CAO, Norton will be the Town’s senior administrator. He will be directly responsible to the Town Council to maintain day-to-day management of the municipality, and to provide an environment where staff, Council, residents and businesses can work together for mutual benefits.
“Kingsville is such an exciting place to live and work,” Norton said. “I am looking forward to living in the community and working closely with Mayor Santos, Council and the employees at the Town.”
