Essex County OPP Will Handle Criminal Record Checks Online

You’ll need to go online if you want a criminal record check done, according to the Essex County Ontario Provincial Police. Applications are no longer being accepted at OPP detachment locations. This was first announced in July, 2020.

Criminal record checks will only be accepted and processed for applicants residing within OPP jurisdictions.
And applicants can only submit applications with the police service that is in the jurisdiction in which they reside.

You can complete and submit an application at www.opp.ca/crc. Payment must be made by credit card.

Do you have any questions about the process or about completing the application form? Contact the OPP specialists at OPP.Police.Record.Check@opp.ca.

I have a question regarding Police background checks. Whenever I have signed up to volunteer for, many different organizations here in town, a Police background check was required. The OPP office in Kingsville always waved the cost for volunteers….I suppose since we now have to do this online the $$ cost will not be absorbed by the OPP. Seniors who sign up to volunteer …most times…and being on fixed incomes ..not having to pay was a very nice “pay it forward” .
    Curious me….
