This aerial view of the Kingsville Harbour was taken between 1907 and 1913. In the foreground, the foundation of the 1889 Mettawas Hotel and the 1890 servants’ quarters can be seen on the hill above the waterworks building and the bathhouse.
To the rear, the east and west pier of the harbour can be seen. To the south end of the east pier, there was a passenger station and at least four warehouses and/or shanties. The powerhouse for the streetcar line, the lighthouse and the lighthouse keeper’s residence can be seen at the top of the harbour.
This photo, among many others, appears in the award-winning book “Kingsville 1790-2000 A Stroll Through Time,” produced by the Kingsville-Gosfield Heritage Society in 2003. This two-volume set can still be purchased locally from Malott’s Guardian Pharmacy, the Town of Kingsville Municipal Office, and the Kingsville Archives at the Kingsville-Gosfield Heritage Society, at a cost of $35.00.
